Cameroon - Birding Tour

buzzardWith over 900 species and 26 endemics recorded, Cameroon is a world birders must-see. A 14-day tour, the tour begins in Douala with an overnight train ride to Ngaoundéré and our accommodation, which is set on the rim of a dormant volcano overlooking a crater lake. The tour continues to Benoue National Park to explore the riparian and Miombo-like woodlands for birds such as Violet and White-crested Turacos, Grey Pratincole and White-throated Francolin. Continue on to Chad and the Waza National Park on the edge of the Sahel for a chance to see some of the richest bird life in the Sahelian region as well as several mammal species. We turn South once more to the Bumenda Mountains and onwards to the pristine forests of Mount Kupe. Continue on to the legendary Korup National Park for a chance to see Red-headed Picathartes. Last days are spent at the foot of Mount Cameroon as well as the Senega River at Edea.
Extension: One extra week will take in the endemics of Bamenda Highlands, Mount Cameroon and Mt. Kupe

Gabon - Birding Tour

fishing OwlTravel to the village of Iguela that hugs the banks of a lagoon to encounter forest elephants roaming the beach and taking in a salty drink of seawater. Catch a train to the vast La Lope reserve to explore the Ogawe River and pristine forest in search of Congo Serpent Eagles, Lowland Akalat and Vanga Flycatchers. End the 16-day tour at the Bateke Plateau for 3 days of exploring the plateau's copses and forests for many birds including Finsch's Francolin, Gabon Nightjar and the rarely seen Black-chinned Weaver.

Zambia - Birding Tour

red neck falconA 16-day tour of Zambia, birding the pristine Miombo Woodland, Fig Tree Savannahs and 'Dambos'. The tour begins in Chingola before moving on to Hillwood Farm in search of special birds such as Red-throated Cliff Swallow, Dickinson's Kestrel, and Fulleborn's Longclaws. We will also visit the source of the Zambezi River in search of the rare Forbes Plover. We continue on to Mkushi and the Mutinondo Wilderness to bird the Miombo Woodland for the endemic Anchieta's Barbet and Sunbird. We travel south heading through Choma to the Livingstone and the spectacular Victoria Falls. Onwards east to Siavongo on Lake Kariba to conclude with the highlight of the tour: the Angola Pitta.

Namibia & Botswana - Birding Tour

African Pygmy GooseA 15-day tour, focusing mainly on Namibia and Botswana with the final day spent at the spectacular Victoria Falls in Zambia. The tour begins in Namibia where we visit the towering Spitzkoppe, explore the Welwitschia planes for the bizarre Welwitschia mirabilis plant and view game and night birds from a waterhole in the Erongo National Park. In Botswana we take a pleasant boat trip spotting Blue-cheeked Bee-eaters, Long-toed Plovers and several other species. Travel to Caprivi and enjoy a game drive in Chobe before taking the ferry to Zambia.
