Gorillas, Chimpanzees and other Primates
African Silver Safaris offers truly memorable primate trips. A guide who specialises in the primates and has
excellent knowledge of the areas that we visit guides our tours. We offer tours designed primarily for primate tracking or alternatively as a one or two day breaks on one of our birding tours.
We always aim to arrange accommodation that is comfortable while also being affordable; accommodation in Africa is often simple with showers and hot water supplied. Transport is usually 10-seater coaches or 4x4 vehicles dependent on the tour requirements.
The trips offer a varying experience - from habituated Mountain gorillas that allow for an extremely close-up experience (but time limited) to Lowland gorillas, where observing can be
done at leisure from viewing platforms. The experience allows for great opportunities for photographing gorillas.
Though primate tracking can at times be strenuous we ensure that the experience of visiting these magnificent animals can be enjoyed and appreciated by all, young and old.
Rwanda
Experience "the land of a thousand hills" at the Volcano National Park, in search of Dian Fossey's acclaimed gorillas in the lush bamboo forests, or take on an exhilarating track through magical montane rainforest of Nyungwe, following the sharp screeches of the semi-habituated chimpanzees.
Uganda
Explore
the "Pearl of Africa" in our trip to Uganda where you can appreciate a plethora of primates including chimpanzees in the beautiful Kibale Forest.
Congo (Brazzaville)
We offer you the opportunity to journey into the untouched tropical forest of Central Africa, a forest that spans three countries. Travel in pirogues guided by Pygmy or Bantu tribesmen that live in the forest, watch
gorillas and
elephants in the Dzanga Mbeli bais from the comfort of miradors, and track through the prime jungle habitat with pygmy trackers in search of the magnificent
mountain gorilla.
